What is a PoE injector?
The Poe injector allows power to be supplied to a 10/100/1000mbps network over CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT6A Ethernet network cable. The power source can be any power supply from 10V to 30V, and the injector's output voltage is 48V. The poe adapter can be powered from the DC jack 5.5/2.1 mm connector - or from the pins of the RJ45 plug - 4.5 (plus) and 7.8 - (minus). With a poe injector, a battery (12V or 24V) or passive PoE (10V-30V) can be used to power a 48V device.
When connecting the power supply to the DC jack 2.1mm input - the power will be isolated from the male RJ-45 connector - so it can be connected to a switch or router. The 48V output voltage is delivered to the 3.6 (plus) and 1.2 - (minus) pins of the female RJ-45 jack to power any 802.3af device. There is an exchange of both the voltage with which the receiving device is powered and the pins on which power over ethernet operates.
